Adam directs CHIRP’s maritime programme, which provides an independent and confi dential safety incident reporting programme to Seafarers worldwide. Originally an engineer o­ cer in the UK’s Royal Navy, he retrained as a deck o­ cer and held several seagoing posts, including periods of command at sea. He has also been the harbourmaster of several ports and sits on the national council of the UK Harbour Masters’ Association.
